Responsible use of AI
Omniway uses AI to support teachers and students. Our starting point is that AI should be a tool that simplifies and improves — not one that replaces human decision-making.
AI as support — not decision-maker
AI in Omniway is designed to ease planning, streamline administration and support interaction between teachers and students.
Key principles for our use of AI:
- AI is not used for grading or assessment
- AI doesn't replace the teacher — it supports and offloads work
- All AI-generated suggestions can be reviewed and adjusted by the user
- Human decision-making always takes precedence
Data protection in AI use
Omniway uses OpenAI's enterprise API for AI functionality. We've implemented several safeguards to ensure data protection is upheld:
- Only the user's input is sent to the API
- Omniway's own instructions and IP are included in the calls
- No identifiable personal data is shared with third parties
- Data is anonymised before being processed by the AI model
No storage of prompts
Prompts and AI interactions are not stored after the response has been delivered. Data sent to OpenAI's enterprise API is not used to train models.
- No prompts are stored in Omniway's systems after delivery
- OpenAI does not use data from the enterprise API to train models
- Each AI interaction is standalone and leaves no trace
Transparency and control
We believe AI features should be visible and understandable to the user.
- AI features are clearly marked in the interface
- The user actively chooses to use AI support
- The customer has visibility into which AI features are active
- Documentation is available for all AI features
AI as an add-on — never a requirement
The core platform works fully without AI functionality. AI is an optional add-on that can be activated or deactivated by the customer.
- No AI functionality is required to use the platform
- The customer decides if and when AI is activated
- All core platform features are available without AI
